All-Wheel Alignment Service

An all-wheel alignment, also called a four-wheel alignment, is an alignment service performed on all four wheels. When your Ford first rolled off of the production line, its wheels were perfectly aligned. However, several things can knock the wheels out of alignment. Driving over a pothole, hitting a curb, or being in a fender bender can all affect the alignment, but it doesn’t even have to be this dramatic. Wheels can become misaligned merely by dealing with the bumps, jostles, and jolts of daily driving.

When you bring your Ford in for an alignment, our technicians will look at three angles: the camber, toe, and caster angles. Camber refers to the wheels’ inward or outward tilt when you look at the vehicle from the front or back, while toe refers to the tilt when viewed from the top. The caster angle has to do with the angle of the steering axis compared to the centerline. If any of these angles are out of alignment, we’ll bring it back to factory specifications.

Does My Vehicle Need a Four-Wheel Alignment?

Sometimes a two-wheel alignment (also known as a front-end alignment) is all that’s necessary. But if you drive an all-wheel-drive or 4x4 vehicle with independent suspension instead of a solid rear axle, you’ll likely need an all-wheel alignment.

How Often Is an All-Wheel Alignment Necessary?

Generally, we recommend that you have your alignment checked every 15,000 miles. Of course, there are other times when an alignment service might be necessary. If you notice that your Ford is pulling to one side or the other, or if you’ve recently run over a big pothole, it may be a good idea to head in for alignment service.
